Coat, outfit

Lets talk about pink and red

Even if you are tied from pink outfits of your little daughter, it is hard to resist a temptation and use this super bright combination in your outfits. It is very trendy (although not the main official according to Pantone) SS18 color combo and even fall collections have some traces of this bright, rather “sprinish” outfits ( just take a look at fall ready-to-wear Dice Kayek). At the same time, many will object that this combo is too bright and unnatural. To wear or not to wear, here I solve this question.

The very first rule that can be useful once it comes to color combination is to check the nature. Looking at the beautiful orchid flowers, it is amazing and obvious how often red-pink combo can be observed and how natural it is. So, if your concern is to go with natural colors – go for it without hesitation!

The next question is how to wear it in everyday life? Getting one pretty dress means that you ll wear this piece once, maybe twice. And then everyone knows, this is the same dress. Does not really sound that practical. I suggest getting two different items and once in a while pair them together. For my office look, I wear red coat ( that can be all worn in multiple combinations with greys and blacks and navy) and fuchsia pink pants that similarly can be combined with other colors. This way, you invest in many looks and get many variables instead of one non-exchangeable combination. If you are concern about the outfit being too bright, use darker shades and one item that can be removed in the office ( like coat).

Have fun with coloring your inter season days:)!!

How to style a budget-friendly winter wardrobe

Start now and built a nice wardrobe that will keep you warm, stylish and cozy during all your winter activities. Here I summarize items that are essential to make you look stylish during cold months. Unlike summer dresses, people with limited budget feel that buying winter clothes is an expensive task and therefore exclude any options for stylish garments. Budget varies from person to person, someone can afford anything and another person can afford $10 a month – so focusing on right items will help to fit any budget and yet to look good.

Fashion never stops, it runs at an enormous speed in terms of changes of technologies and in terms of money. A form of art that is multiplied to exponentially growing production.  Hard to follow and almost impossible to chase. Therefore, for anyone who works in a different profession and is not willing to spend all earnings for an Instagram moment, this post might be useful.

Winter is cold in a large part of the globe and requires warm clothes – right. What to buy? Great outfits that are advertised by brands often look amazing, but then we end up buying a dark-colored puffy coat ( still in trend, but don’t you think, that the whole NYC looks like one puffy coat clone?:)) Below I listed the alternatives.

Ski jacket. Purpose: winter sports, playing with kids, ski vacations, winter walks. What to buy: I would choose a white or another simple color that will fit to ski pants, jeans, and sweatpants that you already have. I would not care about the brand but to make sure that the thermo-insulation is good.

IMG_0468IMG_2950Wool coats. These are my favorites. The must-have colors are: beige, camel, grey or black. These neutrals always look stylish and chic. These are worth investing into – a classic wool coat of a good quality is a timeless item that serves 10-30 years. So here budget does not mean cheap. Find one on the sale at the end of season.  Straight knee-long or belted maxi coats are the best options. This type of coats go well with dresses, skirts, jeans, or dress-trousers. High-heel boots or sneakers.  Work or weekends – where them anywhere.

Bright-colored coats. Here most of people will disagree – how a bright-colored item can be a good investment? In case if you are very limited with budget, the first two options are enough. However, if you get one – remember – a color should fit you and the quality should be good. It is better to invest in one neutral color coat than in few bad quality items – it is obvious for others but most importantly, it is obvious for you. You are going to wear it everyday and feel in it good or not. In my life, I had an experience of having a bright-colored coat that was super warm, classic fit and that served my mom and me for 30 years. Great investment. Therefore, do not exclude bright-colored items from your options.

Fur coats. Eastern Europe is all about fur coats. Looks chic, high price-tag and serve for a long time. I do not wear fur, but the faux fur is fine. It is still warm if you wear a shear coat. The price varies, but companies like ASOS have some good options. I would choose light color, this year pink.

Puffy coats indeed are in trend, they are practical , warm and durable. So if you have only one option – opt for this one of a good quality. Wear to work, date or ski vacation.

Good luck and have great and active winter!

Ski areas for non-skiers: ski and apres ski, why we should go and what we should wear

Skiers around the world are getting excited when the weather is getting colder: they smell snow and ski. Other normal and adequate adults tend to spend a bit less time outdoors. Even avid runners, when the temperature strikes minus in Fahrenheit, prefer to take a day off. This year I cannot ski, so spending some time in the ski area as a non-skier led me to several points:

First, it is a great way to enjoy winter because in the ski area cold feels differently than in the office setting, so grab your coffee and go for a walk.

Second, this keeps your kids healthy and happy as this is one of very few reasons to get them out of house and iPads in a cold weather – they have fun, they get stronger and also they eat and sleep better.

Third, the sun exposure and its reflection by snow boosts the mood for days and weeks after. Isn’t this the best way to deal with season depression that many people experience?

Forth, this is a great opportunity to hang with friends and to meet new people. Even if I am alone spending hours while waiting for my daughter, I meet people and chat.

Fifth, après ski is something to enjoy and the fact that you spend so much time outdoors qualifies your body for this pleasure.

What to wear? Dress up in layers. Ski jackets and snow pants work great but I also like sheer coat with ski pants and turtleneck or thick sweaters. Fun hats are always fun. Remember to take sunglasses  – it can be a lot of sun.

Live your life full even in winter. Happy New Year!

Little Pink Coat

Pink is the color that escorts most of women through the life. Remember that pink teddy bear when you were 3? Well, if even you are grown up, cozy fluffy texture and pink color can accompany you this winter without compromising your work wardrobe. I chose suede coat with faux fur from ASOS.  I can’t get enough of it! Here I combined suede in two different colors, pink (coat) and beige ( boots and my favorite bag). Ivory pants bridge well the coat and boots. Darker color would break the figure into several stripes and make it shorter. If you decide to wear navy pants, pair them with dark shoes. Light or dark grey sweater or cardigan will make this suitable for work, I would just be careful to make sure that either pants or sweater have structure. Black shades work well with this outfit but today I tried it with pink Dolce&Gabbana sunglasses and just love how they go together.

It is time of the year to talk about basics for winter. Well-tailored little black coat ( in this case the coat is wool-made Pologarage, Turkey) is a must-have for many cold seasons ahead. it is basically your LBD for winter! This type of coat is comfy and adds an official note to sporty look, it fits all shapes and figures (note my size is 40 and the same idea was already beautifully shown by Victoria Beckham). I pair this with sport pant (Pull and Bear) and adidas sneakers. The bag is leather and suede Crome (Italy). This is my favorite bag of this year,  perfect as a workhorse, going out for dinner, and weekends.
